Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement and maintain highly available and scalable SQL Server databases
    • Includes database design, database structure identification, database schema definition, database access privilege management, database query optimization, documentation, database instance upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and database protection
    • Projects long range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function
    • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods
    • Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design
    • Plans and implements database backups, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions
  • Maintains information assurance (IA) security documentation and artifacts for SQL databases 
    • Implements applicable STIGS to develop automated and manual checklist results, and develop and execute POA&Ms for any database checklist findings
    • Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a web-based environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data
  • Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front end/backend programming languages
    • Performs database programming and supports systems design
    • Develops data-driven automated reports and business intelligence dashboards
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data integrity issues
    • Advise users on access to various web-based databases
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and technologies related to database administration

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active US DoD TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Five (5) years progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQLite, T-SQL, MS Access
  • At least three years of hands-on experience and expertise with MS SQL Server using SSMS, SSRS, SSDT and Visual Studio
  • Demonstrated experience implementing applicable DISA STIGs (database and instance)
  • Familiarity with applicable technical controls in the Risk Management Framework for SQL databases
  • Capability to work on various operating systems (Windows and Linux) and additional programming languages
  • Demonstrated experience with at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database
  • Sensitivity Level: IT-I – Critical Sensitive 
  • 8570 IAT II level certification, i.e. active Security + CE
  • Minimum Associate degree in a relevant field
  • Active Computing Environment Certification: MS SQL Server 2016, Azure Database Administrator or other relevant certifications
