Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to pass a full background check and/or obtain a Government clearance.
  • Provide RF wireless engineering to clients. This includes a basic understanding of RF transmissions, mapping and surveying, configuration of access points, antennas and related equipment, cabling infrastructure to support WLAN systems, client wireless configurations, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct wireless site surveys utilizing spectrum analysis technologies, recommend and implement corrective action.
  • Provide detailed network drawings and diagrams and relation as built documentation
  • Perform wireless site surveys, conduct site evaluations, and generate Heat Maps utilizing Ekahau Survey Pro and/or AirMagnet Survey
  • Provide detailed network drawings and diagrams and relation as built documentation
  • Configuration of wireless infrastructure including Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), DNA Center, and Access Points (AP’s).
  • Configuration of wired infrastructure including Cisco routers and switches.
  • Operations and Management of Cisco Prime Infrastructure and DNA Center.
  • Ability to work both within a team and individually with minimal supervision.
  • Physical racking, cabling, configuration, or management of various network devices located at the TekSynap Lab, Wi-Fi NOC, and within University of Pittsburgh locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of experience in enterprise network implementation or support
  • 1-3 years of experience in wireless infrastructure support in a large environment
  • 1-3 years of experience in LAN infrastructure support in a large environment
  • Familiarity with Cisco wireless solutions including, WLC and LWAP
  • Familiarity with Cisco Prime, DNA Center, Cisco ISE, or similar applications
  • Experience with Cisco Layer 2/3 switches and routers
  • Familiarity with Wired and Wireless network devices from vendors such as Juniper/Mist and HPE/Aruba.
  • Familiarity with Cisco access points and antenna options
  • Familiarity with wireless survey methodologies for hospital, office, factory, warehouse, outdoor, and mesh designs
  • Familiarity with network design and implementation methodology and concepts.

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • CWNA Certification preferred
  • Cisco Certification preferred
  • Ekahau Certification preferred
  • AirMagnet Certification preferred

Overview

Network Engineer will work within a collaborative team to provide support for the University of Pittsburgh’s Wireless Networks in conjunction with TekSynap’s core engineering support team. This will include upgrading, configuration, and management of enterprise management systems such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco DNAC, wireless and wired network infrastructure including Wireless LAN Controllers, and Access Points.  The Network Engineer will also support the installation and life cycle replacement of wireless and/or wired infrastructure at the university and regional campuses. The Network Engineer may also assist with “hands on” work to be performed at the TekSynap Lab and/or the Wi-Fi NOC. May be required to support similar duties for different customers.
