Responsibilities & Qualifications

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work within a collaborative team to provide core engineering support for both wireless and wired networks for clients. This will include upgrading, configuration and management of enterprise management and access control systems such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco Identity Services Engine as well as WLAN infrastructure including Wireless LAN Controllers, Cisco and Juniper Access Points and Edge devices, Layer 2/3 switches and routers.
  • Remotely support onsite teams with the installation or life cycle replacement of wireless and/or wired infrastructure at customer sites. In addition, the Sr. Core Network Engineer will work collaboratively with the other Sr. Engineers and the Core Engineering Manager on wireless and wired network design as well as project coordination. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco WLAN infrastructure including Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) as well as Juniper Edge devices, and Juniper Access Points.
    • Configuration, Operations and Management of Juniper Mist
    • Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers and Layer 2/3 switches
    • Configuration and troubleshooting of security platforms such as Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA) and Identity Services Engine (ISE).
    • Create and/or update detailed documents and diagrams including Design Documents, Implementations Plans and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Ability to work both within a team and individually with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • 3 years of experience in a NOC environment or equivalent experience
  • Must have a CCNA certification or 3 years of relative work
  • Must have experience with the implementation and troubleshooting of enterprise level Cisco and Juniper wired and/or wireless networks as well as familiarity with other vendors including Juniper, Mist and Aruba Networks.
  • Applicant must have basic route/switch knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • 5-7 years of experience in enterprise network implementation and support
  • 5-7 years of experience in wireless infrastructure support in a large environment
  • 5-7 years of experience in LAN infrastructure support in a large environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the design, configuration and troubleshooting of all aspects of Cisco wireless solutions including Wireless Lan Controllers and Juniper Mist Edges.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration and support of Cisco switches and routers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of switching principals including VLANs, 802.1q Trunking and 802.3ad Link Aggregation
  • Experience with Cisco ISE or equivalent network access control applications
  • Experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure or equivalent enterprise management applications
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless network design and implementation for hospital, office, factory, warehouse, outdoor, and mesh environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Must successfully pass VA background check
  • Must reside within the continental United States
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug screening
  • Must complete and pass two stage TB testing
  • U.S. Citizen

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Cisco CCNA required
  • Cisco CCNP preferred

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Core Network Engineer to join our Wireless team supporting Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

Senior Core Network Engineer will work within a collaborative team to provide engineering design, testing and implementation support across multiple wired and wireless networking topologies and technologies both in support of current and new Core Engineering projects and customers.  This person must have experience with the design, implementation and troubleshooting of enterprise level Cisco wired and/or wireless networks as well as familiarity with other vendors including Juniper, Mist and Aruba Networks.  The Senior Core Network Engineer will work closely with other members of the Core Engineering team to develop. test and execute network designs and implementation plans that meet all customer requirements and that can be effectively and efficiently implemented.  In addition, the Senior Core Network Engineer will provide remote Tier 3/4 support to both customers and other Core Network Engineers across multiple projects and technologies.
