Senior Sales Manager - VA Overview

 

This is a senior-level, customer-facing field sales role responsible for managing strategic sales activities within the Federal Health Care sector, with a focus on IT-related solutions. The Account Executive will work collaboratively to drive revenue growth and expand market presence by developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Revenue Generation: Commissioned sales role accountable for achieving a Gross Profit Quota as determined by the commission plan.
  • Territory Management: Oversee a designated Federal Health Care sales territory comprising medium to large enterprise accounts.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay informed on industry trends, including Smart WiFi, SD-WAN, LAN and Data Center switching, cloud computing, consumptive models, and creative financing solutions.
  • Consultative Sales Approach: Leverage deep knowledge of the federal and commercial IT marketplace to provide tailored solutions to customer challenges.
  • Pipeline Development: Actively engage in opportunity management, forecasting, and demand generation to drive sustainable growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5–10 years of experience in IT sales.
  • 5 years of experience selling to the VA

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mid-level certifications in OEM training programs.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive account plans and sales strategies.
  • Expertise in selling professional and managed services.
  • Strong ability to cultivate C-level relationships and understand key business drivers.
  • Experience securing large, multi-year IT annuity contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Contracting and acquisition vehicles.
  • Understanding of federal budget cycles and procurement patterns.
  • Ability to navigate public sources to identify government solicitations and opportunities (Exhibit 300).
  • Familiarity with industry CRM applications.
  • Understanding of OEM business processes, including negotiating discount structures.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead customer-facing meetings.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and under mentorship.
  • Professional and timely communication skills with customers and vendors.
  • Strong phone skills, including active listening, open-ended questioning, and professional mannerisms.
  • Excellent writing skills, including proper grammar, professional tone, and technical literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume, multitasking sales environment while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
