Responsibilities & Qualifications

TekSynap is seeking an experienced Network Engineer III to join our team. This role involves maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing network infrastructures to ensure high availability and performance. This Network Engineer III position is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the network infrastructure, ensuring robust and secure connectivity that supports the complex needs of federal law enforcement training programs. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain networking infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and other network hardware appliances. 
  • Monitor network performance to ensure high availability and reliability across all training and administrative operations. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams to assess network capacity needs and to design robust networking solutions that support the operational goals. 
  • Implement network security measures, manage firewall configurations, and ensure compliance with federal security protocols and standards. 
  • Conduct regular network assessments and performance audits, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues proactively. 
  • Participate in the planning and deployment of new networking projects, including the integration of new technology as needed to enhance service delivery. 
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance related to network infrastructure, responding to issues in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Document all network configurations, changes, and procedures to ensure consistency and recoverability. 
  • Train and guide junior network engineers and other IT staff on network management and best practices. 
  • Stay abreast of new technologies in the networking field and recommend upgrades and enhancements to keep the network infrastructure modern and efficient. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Five years of experience, within the last seven years, related to a specific engineering or computer science, discipline such as: communications engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineer, or telecommunications, in support of communication systems or networks.  
  • Familiarity with Government or industry processes, procedures, standards, methodologies, or tools relative to information security.  

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Relevant professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS) or Aruba Network Certificate (ACSA, ACSP, or ACSX) 
  • Strong technical proficiency with networking hardware, software, and protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, IPv4 and dual stacking. 
  • Experience in prioritizing network outages, projects and tasks while providing technical assistance and resolution to teams in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair network infrastructure 
  • Ability to design and implement operational network systems and prototypes according to current and future engineering data and Government requirements 
  • Extensive knowledge of network principles, protocols and design, to evaluate and provide optimal network performance 
  • Ability to collaborate with Network and System Engineers, equipment vendors, and other personnel to identify, define, and solve trending or developmental problems 
  • Experience with cloud engineering and migration strategies 
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate and resolve technical issues with OneNet Engineering personnel within the entire network topology including other Data Centers (DC) 
  • Ability to review and make technical recommendations to all Infrastructure Change Control Board (ICCB) packets prior to submittal 
  • Ensure recommendations are coordinated and understood by local, OneNet and DC personnel, and implemented correctly during network rollouts.  
  • Experience with major networking equipment brands and vendors, including Cisco, Juniper, Aruba or similar. 
  • Proven ability to monitor and enhance network performance and security. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with multiple teams and effectively documenting complex network systems. 
  • Must be a US Citizen
